That's well said. Indeed, the trick seemed necessary because of the relative scarcity of resources (which made childbirth and raising so infants risky), and the competition with many other species after so many eons of evolution on a godless planet. In hindsight, humanists should be glad that nature tricked us, or else high cultures would never have developed.
