That's sort of the messianic longing. The hope for redemption from the underclass. It's faith-based, though. We squeeze wisdom out of the dropouts, the artists and prophets and mad drifters. We sacrifice these explorers of inner space, and commercialize their findings. Art is like gasoline: it fuels mass society without altering our downward trajectory. Every once in a while, though, there is indeed a revolution.
