That's right, although I think some of those "metamodern" folks, such as "Rebel Wisdom" may have preceded Vervaeke. I don't think Vervaeke invented this genre. He's surfing it like lots of other trendy would-be gurus.
I attended a few meetings with some of these neo-Hippies who ran a group called "The Stoa," before covid hit and I learned more about this discourse. Lots of flaky stuff there with perhaps some insightful criticisms of popular culture too. Vervaeke is trying to make this religious philosophy less flaky by combining it with cognitive science.
Their idea is to rejuvenate popular culture by combatting social media with some in-person, good-faith dialogue. Of course, I'm all for open dialogue, but not if it's an excuse to give the time of day to all manner of exploitative, new age scams. Some of those folks recognize this danger, but the social movement is kind of a minefield.
