That's not the point. The point is that arguments by assertion are cheap. So why would someone who's practiced Buddhism for 35 years not bother explaining what's wrong with the case I'm making? Why would such an expert only argue by cheap assertion? That itself is revealing.

Also, there's a difference between religious practice and the philosophy of religion. I'm doing the latter here.
