That's mighty weak sauce. Jews couldn't live peacefully for centuries among Christians because Christendom back then was medieval, just as the Muslim world is today. So you're supporting my point rather than undermining it. Christian countries became more multicultural and tolerant precisely when they adopted modern liberalism.

Why can't modern countries have allies? Is a country modern only if it's a hermit like North Korea? "Modern" doesn't mean antisocial, so that a modern country must have no allies or partners. That doesn't logically follow.

Israel is hardly modern just because of its military power. On the contrary, it has that power because it's modern, that is, because it adopted the Enlightenment ideology of liberalism, an ideology that expresses itself in the rule of law, the principles of freedom of speech and thought, and in secularism, capitalism, and democracy. That's why Israel was able to partner so closely with the modern, secular US, and it's why Israel has a thriving technology sector. Israelis are pro-science because naturalism doesn't threaten their culture--because that culture has been modernized.
