That's interesting. Indeed, Buddhists have disagreed on the meaning of their discipline, splitting off into various schools. I don't know enough about that history, but I'd be interested to learn more about the Eastern moralizers.

Buddhism and all the other Eastern religions seem to me more mature, moderate, and rational than the Western ones. So while I'm critiquing Buddhism here, I'm much harsher towards the monotheistic religions.
