But I doubt the video's last line, that "as ever, the job of culture is to reframe our experiences and render us a little less lonely and persecuted." That strikes me as quite naïve. The dominant culture begins with the children who pick on the weirdos in class to purify the social hierarchy. And culture comes to fruition with its myths and propaganda that excuse all sorts of injustices. The video must be talking there about an ideal for reform, not culture's actual function. Or the video could be talking about a critical subculture, but not about culture in general.
