That's an interesting take on it. If liberalism and capitalism make for a great levelling of the playing field, this can infantilize us, I think, and can count against intellectual elitism by undermining authority figures who are supposed to be elevated in the social hierarchy. At least, capitalism pushes the message that the consumer is king. If everyone's a self-declared expert, though, resting as we do on technology which does most of the work anyway, and truth becomes relative, we're just babying ourself or making excuses for our collective subservience to our tools.
