That's a tactical question, but I don't see why secularists should be guided so much by the bad-faith shenanigans of exoteric theists. They're going to distort and obfuscate, no matter how clear and rational their opponents try to be.

Anyway, yes, that analogy looks like a design argument for God--except for the obvious difference, which is that in what I'm saying, the artist is there shouting in your face, whereas in nature, there's no such face or voice of God doing the same. There's just nature itself, the painting as it were, shaping itself.

Inferring an intelligent designer isn't the same as perceiving and ignoring one.

But maybe my analogy is a little convoluted. It's just the brazenness of ignoring nature's creativity and of emphasizing a superfluous supernatural kind that I was trying to capture.
