That's a semantic question. It's not just being passionate, but being so passionate that you hold the thing as sacred. Arguably, if nothing's sacred to someone, it's hard to see how the person would be interesting. The individual would be more like a machine than a person.

But the word "sacred" might be tainted with theistic connotations, so you might be saying the same thing with different labels.
