That's a lot easier said than done, though. I've written a lot on this too, and I suspect we don't just choose arbitrarily or even selfishly to be disconnected from nature. We feel alienated from nature as we discover how godless, absurd, amoral, and inhuman the wilderness is. We aim to replace that horrific (yet also sublime) domain with our artificial refuges even if it kills us. That's the existential, Faustian, Promethean ("Satanic") bargain on which civilization seems to depend.
