That's a good question because "natural" has many senses, as you can see from the link below. In other writings I've explained the difference specifically between (1) the metaphysical definition of "nature," which includes everything that's scientifically explainable and thus everything we presume exists in this universe, and (2) the more social and historical sense in which the natural is equated with the wilderness, as distinct from anything that's intelligently designed and thus artificial, such as societies populated by people rather than animals. And I have in mind the second sense rather than the first when I talk about nature's monstrousness.

Arguably, our societies are anti-natural in the second sense, but natural in the first.
