That wasn't really a rhetorical flourish. I was just struck by the photographs you can find on Google that show that Reich is little more than half Rubin's size, which makes for an amusing analogy to how one dominated the other in government.
Your reaction to the comment seems to have been more political than aesthetic or literary. I write fiction too, by the way. I'm currently writing my second novel.
