That seems a reasonable, even pragmatic way of looking at religion. I think the question I was trying to raise is whether a "spiritual" being would likely be a moral one. What kind of morality flows from a spiritual or a cosmic outlook?
There's a small-minded conception of "God" that makes that First Cause out to be far too human to be credible. So in finding the same "spiritual essence" within us, wouldn't we likewise have to become less merely human, or more transhuman?
It's interesting to wonder what a truly enlightened person would do or would be concerned with.
