That mechanistic comparison between natural systems and machines (with inner workings) hardly escapes the deistic or theistic connotations since those mechanical parts are designed to do the inventor's bidding. Again, in nature we'd need the mindless evolution of parts to "work" in that quasi-teleological way, as parts of pseudo-machines.
