That does make some sense. A lot of food is being wasted. The energy it might cost to ship it, though, would have some detrimental impact on the environment. That might be outweighed if the food could save lives. Mind you, much of the food we eat that wouldn't perish in the journey wouldn't be too healthy. We might be saving lives but also promoting cancer or First World diseases that come with our unhealthy diet.
