That certainly raises the interesting question of scientific progress. The expectation is that as each theory is refuted by the next one, scientists are getting closer to the deeper or more complete truth. This expectation is backed by the technological advances which are applications of the latest theories.
But if each theory is falsified by the next one, and the technological advances are only speeding up our demise via our destruction of the ecosystems, what kind of progress is this? Wouldn't we be left in the end with nothing? A Pyrrhic victory at best.
