However, I don't go all the way with Aristotle, and not just because of his archaic elitism (his racism, misogyny, defense of slavery, etc). No, the real problem is that his naturalism gives short shrift to the anomaly of personhood. So what's "moderate" for anomalies is still pretty extreme. It's like how moderation for an ardent Trump supporter would still be far out of the realm of human decency. Likewise, if our whole species is extreme compared to the norms of the animal kingdom, the talk of human moderation seems to me euphemistic.
Still, there's clearly something to be said about moderation since some extremes are best avoided. Then again, some extremes might be welcome.
