Thanks. I have a series of articles like this one (first link below). It's most helpful that the offending publications make their guidelines public because they're ripe for criticism.

I agree that negativity isn't sufficient for high quality.

I agree also about Haque (a hilariously appropriate surname). Another commenter called it doom porn. He's certainly found a niche, and his writing is repetitive. (I haven't read one of his articles in a couple of years because I got the message after reading just a few.) He seems like a professional writer in that he's catering to his audience. This reminds me of my article on whether a writer should want a large audience (second link). Evidently, that kind of pressure can trap a writer and kill his or her inspiration. This is just the trap of selling out, which must threaten all popular artists.
