Thanks for the recommendation. I have a general theory of social power too. This article is about something more limited which we may overlook, the role of sociopathic tendencies in masculinity, which can help account for the distribution of power.

Social inequalities may persist not just because some are more adept at taking control, without remorse or empathy, but because the rest of us are disgusted by the personality disorders that tend to afflict our rulers, so we unconsciously quarantine them. That is, we allow them to dominate from their palaces and skyscrapers because ordinary, conscientious folks would rather not be associated with monstrous individuals.
