Thanks, but we should expect Medium to act like a business that's trying to find a niche and earn a profit since otherwise the platform will disappear. Medium used to spend money wooing big name writers, but that system didn't work since it frustrated most of the other writers.
I think Medium has its strengths and weaknesses. It relies more on human curators and nominators than algorithms to boost articles, but that system, too, has its flaws.
Medium wants to focus on individual articles rather than authors--or at least that's what the platform says. Maybe there are informal deals and cliques that form here. I wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, some kinds of content will be more popular than others, depending on the audience.
