I'll be writing something soon on John Gray's argument against some secular practices that he says stem from Christianity. I think that argument can be a little facile. It's close to the genetic fallacy, for one thing. Transhumanism does have some parallels with Christian theism, and liberalism, he says, borrows from Gnosticism. But Christianity in turn borrowed from Greco-Roman philosophies as well as Judaism. We're all making the most out of the cultural ingredients on hand. I don't think this borrowing need be conspiratorial.
