Sure, that's a fuller account of why Jesus died. There's no problem explaining it from an atheistic perspective since it's just an instance of evil or wrongness, which is only a conundrum for theists who think a benevolent deity is in charge.

The title of this article is meant to be the liberal Christian speaking. Foster, for instance, tries on various explanations (theodicies), and includes them all in a humbling, wishy-washy mystery that's supposed to have therapeutic value. It sounds more like salesmanship that's meant above all to be inoffensive to the customer. The customer's always right, so the salesperson needs to avoid taking a stand.
