Sure, pro-life folks who rely explicitly on theological arguments would require a different kind of response from the pro-choice crowd. You'd have to criticize the religion itself, as I've done in lots of other articles.

The craftier conservatives, though, dress themselves up as secular, or they leave out the theology they know won't sell well in certain forums.

You seem pessimistic about the benefits of debate in the American culture war as it currently stands. And indeed, that pessimism is hardly groundless.
