Sure, Christianity flourished for some sociological reasons. But I'm stressing that this "system's" propaganda is indeed incoherent. Specifically, the concept of divine revelation doesn't make sense, and without that excuse, the priest's authority was in jeopardy. So reflective Christians would have had to critique their institutions until they ended up with the revolutions of liberal modernity.
