Sure, but Christianity is defeatist and anti-humanistic in that demonization of pride. There's tragedy in Germany's rise and fall, just as there's likely tragedy in the collapse of any empire. That hardly means we should drop everything and wait for Jesus's imminent return, or surrender civilization to exchange secular exploitations for the priestly kinds.
