Speaking of circles, we keep going around and around on this. :) On pragmatic grounds, I argue against the possibility of pure objectivity. We simplify and prefer stories to arid models. We're linear because we're visionary and idealistic since we see ourselves as noble, godlike people rather than as animals, even though biologically we're mammals. Implicitly, we're at war with the wilderness, and at home in civilization, in a domain that's full of subjective meaning. Take away that cultural meaning and you remove our reason for living. Could most of us carry on with no delusions at all? I doubt it.
