Some wise words. I think they have more to do with other aspects of Buddhism, such as the view that everything is impermanent and interconnected.

The teleological view of nature comes from Zoroastrianism, and I've been thinking of it recently in terms of Prometheanism and transhumanism. I'll be writing something soon on the two main types of religion, collectivist ones that posit cycles and individualistic ones that posit linear developments.
