So on the one hand, economists have been calling for a tax to deal with the environmental impact of capitalism.

On the other, they’ve been saying that the power of individual selfishness is progressive, and that we should be developing an economy in which government gets out of the way of the marketplace because rational individuals competing for profit would be optimal.

Even if that’s not how economists interpret their model, that’s the cultural impact of their physics envy and of their obscurantist analyses of a fantasy of capitalism. Their fantasy is construed as an ideal, and the more the US strives to achieve that ideal, the more the government is captured by plutocrats from the private sector.

So those balless politicians have been emasculated by the capitalists who’ve been corrupted by the economy that economists have been cheerleading for since Adam Smith wrote about the invisible hand.

Try again without the pointless ad hominem.
