Show me where I say Buddhists aren't compassionate. I'm talking about Buddhas. Your Medium profile says you're a Buddhist. Does that entail that you're a Buddha? Do you understand the difference between the two?

Buddhism is about eliminating the attachment to unrealistic (essentializing) expectations that cause suffering in the form of disappointment. When we analyze the end result of that detachment in Buddhahood, we see the lack of grounds for selfishness and egoism because a Buddha would regard the personality-based self-image as naïve.

But for similar reasons, we can expect a Buddha to lack a motivation for compassion or selflessness. Why would a Buddha be compassionate, if morality, too, is based on unrealistic expectations? That's the question I'm raising in a mere analysis of some basic Buddhist teachings.
