Secular humanism is the philosophical essence of absolute modernity, not a tool. The modern institutions of capitalism, democracy, science, and freedom of thought in the arts are supposed to express that philosophy, and for the most part, they do. Unfortunately, classic liberals underestimated the dangers of laissez-faire capitalism, so Trump's anarcho-capitalist cronies would usher in an illiberal, authoritarian society in the name of "liberal" or "libertarian"--and thus modern rather than medievalist--capitalism.
