Saying that Trump's an avatar is consistent with what I'm saying about Trump being the god of consumerism. Yes, Trump's positive appeal is just to white supremacists, Evangelicals, and trolling conspiracy theorists, as you say. But I'm saying we still need to account for the severity of his negative appeal. It's not just Trump's supporters who are codependent on him: his enemies are too, such as the corporate news media that would go bust without his antics. The hatred of Trump can be explained in roughly Jungian terms: we see our shadow in him because we too often behave like shallow consumers (in a pejorative sense of "consumer," which takes late-capitalistic consuming to be infantile, greedy, and shortsighted).
