Right, there's certainly a difference between that ecological mindset and the predominant culture of myopic individualism in developed societies. Secular humanists are proud of our godlike attributes, and we presume we deserve to rule the planet. Moreover, on existential grounds, I'd posit, we're horrified by nature's godlessness, so we take up the mission of replacing the amorality and inhumanity of all wild places with our artificial constructs, with the meaning only intelligent, creative animals like us can provide.
Rather than judging which culture is best, given my ambivalence about a lot of this, I aim mainly to describe what I think's happening, in my writings.
