Right, I wasn't dealing here with modern India. I'd have to read more about Hindutva, but as I understand it now, it seems like a political rethinking of Hinduism for nationalist, alt-right purposes, rather than Hinduism itself. It's an exception that proves the rule because the paranoia and exclusivity are obviously in opposition to the Hindu traditions of inclusivity.
