Right, but the question is whether it's rational to surrender some of your liberties at the outset, as a condition of fitting into society. Rand's myth of the self-sustaining industrialist says otherwise since she contends that powerful egotists don't need anyone else. Specifically, they don't benefit from the social order. So the question is whether the social contract counts as "force." Are we forced to pay taxes or is that part of the implicit bargain we make in being members of a civilized society?
