Right, but does this recent phenomenon outweigh the traditional meaning of "Hinduism"? There's the same problem with Buddhism in that there's early Buddhism, which I regard as the most authentic formulation, and then there's how other cultures adopted that therapeutic philosophy. Hinduism developed over centuries, synthesizing many philosophies, so to call a pretty transparent, recent politicization of the religion "Hinduism" seems like a red herring, a change of topic. Maybe we should call the recent development Hinduism*.
