Republicans have successfully demonized the left as "socialism" or "communism," tapping into Cold War hysteria. They're much better at lying and selling (i.e. at politics) than the Democrats are because Republicans or "conservatives" have no shame.

The Democrats could easily do the same without even having to bend the truth much, by associating Trumpism, at least, with fascism and suicidal cults. But Democratic politicians just don't know how to sell anything. They're inept at politics because they're in it for decadent reasons such as making money, and furthering a hollow, politically correct narrative.

Of course, Republicans likewise go into politics to make money, but because they're sociopaths, they're also keen to dominate and to humiliate their rivals.
