Platonism has some religious aspects, but it's not enough for there to be a reality that transcends our senses. Bats transcend our reality with their echolocation, and scientists posit other dimensions and quantum processes that are beyond ordinary cognition. Religion usually requires a theistic aspect. Ultimate reality has to be personal, moral, just, and therefore reassuring to creatures like us, for beliefs and practices oriented around that reality to be religious. Some Eastern religions are more like therapies or philosophies than like religions in the Western sense.
