Perhaps many theoretical physicists are reductionists or eliminativists in that sense, but they're also often scientistic so they make for poor philosophers. I doubt that those in the special sciences would deny the metaphysical importance of emergence since then they'd be giving short shrift to their subject matters. That's more of a tribal, sociological matter about protecting turf.
