Originalism seems drawn from the Protestant's Bible worship. You're supposed to set aside your personal interests and go back to the source to receive divine revelation. Whether it's the Bible or the Constitution, the ultimate truth lies in the past--except that we can look at the history of how Protestant interpretations of the Bible fragmented and proliferated in myriad Christian sects and cults, to question the wisdom of this doctrine. Originalism makes little sense and is more likely a ploy to buttress an interpretation that's being used for political, exploitative purposes.
