Not so. This article is part of a series. The first article in the series (which I link to in this article on Africa) appealed to Freedom House's distinctions between liberal and illiberal societies. Freedom House ranks all the countries according to its Freedom Index. That first article also provides the evidence for the effects of climate on cognition. And that article presents maps to demonstrate the correspondence between global climate patterns and the distribution of free societies. I deal there with some obvious counterexamples, too, such as Australia and Russia. The links to the other articles in this series are below.

I'm aware that tribalism is everywhere, including in Europe. The difference, though, is that Europeans are united by common, progressive ideologies, resulting in the formalities of the EU. And liberalism helped make European countries free, rich, and technologically advanced, compared to Africa.
