No, of course not. I just use "her" instead of "him" for generic references to avoid seeming like I'm presupposing a male-centered viewpoint. There's no great solution in English.

I suppose in this short article it looks like I'm condemning women since the only reference to a single generic person here happens to be relatively negative. But that's just a coincidence. In longer articles of mine in which there are more references like that, women come out looking like the heroes, as it were.

Either way, I'm speaking there not about women but about extroverted people in general, using the female rather than the male slant to help overcome sexism. But the technique seems to have backfired in this case.
