No, I'm not cheerleading for New Atheism. I'm calling for another atheist movement to improve on new atheism by targeting Christian nationalism rather than the low-hanging fruit of theological fundamentalism. I stand by my earlier criticisms of new atheism (scientism and political divisions). But the fact that new atheism was flawed doesn't mean those atheists failed to embarrass Christian and Islamic fundamentalists with some superior arguments. Nor are those flaws relevant to this article's topic, which is the need for another atheist movement to counter the rise of Christian nationalism and authoritarianism.
