Miracles are impossible, but the compatibilist view is only strawmanned if we assume freewill must be of the causeless, libertarian variety. What's possible is limited autonomy, the kind that makes folk psychology the most useful way of explaining the resulting behaviour, and that makes metaphysical determinism irrelevant.
No one can explain human behaviour by tracking every atom in the universe that fully determines the person's action. There's a pragmatic aspect of scientific explanation, which the determinist leaves out.
