Marvel Comics is a secular universe, so the enlightenment that it deals with is science fictional, transhusmanist, and esoteric (i.e. magical and psychedelic). Superheroes are meant to transcend the powers and mentality of ordinary people. Deadpool transcends them in all the ways that reflect a naturalistic, cosmicist take on reality. He's where our species would likely go if we're taken further along for the ride of our technological empowerment, postmodern cynicism, and hyperskepticism. We'd become something like insane clowns.
