I've heard that conservative morals are based on disgust. But where conservatives go wrong is in lacking the progressive impulse to improve on what's disgusting. Instead, they make themselves disgusting, reverting to an animal mode to excuse their preference for natural dominance hierarchies. The conservative thinks, "If you can't beat them, join them" The liberal thinks, "We can beat them to avoid joining them."

The disgust for wildness is existential and thus bound to be found in conservatives and liberals. But morality doesn't end with that existential reaction to nature.
