It's true that most Christians have always been poor, since the Church preys on the illiterate and holds them hostage by exchanging basic goods and services for their tithes and pledges of faith. But the poor are typically anti-Jesus in one respect: they're big on family. Jesus wasn't against mere riches, but against worldly attachments since they distract from what should be our uncompromising focus on God. But the poor typically raise large families to support the elders.
