It's not obvious, though, that happiness is compatible with an appreciation of life's absurdity. The model here says the masses can be happy as long as they don't delve into a meta-perspective that threatens to undermine confidence in all institutions, myths, pastimes, and so on. I agree that there are enlightened practices, but they're typically pursued by the marginalized class of dropouts (the fourth category). One such practice would be art. Another would be philosophy.
