It's not a Western perspective since it's based on science, which is as universal as it gets. Nor does the distinction between nature and artificiality derive from a Western perspective. The fact that everything's part of nature in some metaphysical or methodologically naturalistic sense doesn't mean we're not separate from nature in another sense. Have a look at the many senses of the word "natural," and you'll see the possibility for these kinds of contrasts.
