It's my take on Chang's point about how economics is more political than economists make it seem when they emphasize the scientific trappings they adopt. The obfuscation is seen all the time on TV as talking heads throw out statistics that have been cooked up in a think tank. They know science has cachet, so they mimic the methods of science (even though their social subject matter doesn't call for them). They talk in terms of numbers even if the models rest on bogus or biased assumptions. They don't present the whole of their models except in technical journals which no one reads. The sensational upshot gets lifted out of the sophistical discourse and becomes a meme.

Do you just have no idea how academic propaganda and obfuscation work, or are you being deliberately obtuse to troll me for the twentieth time?
